They were both seen struggling to hold back tears after an emotional argument on last night's episode of The Only Way Is Essex.
But as reports that they had split left fans devastated, Lydia Bright and James 'Arg' Argent put on brave faces as they stepped out today following the broadcast of their row.
The pair both smiled through any angst they were feeling as they got on with their daily lives.

Overwhelmed: Lydia confided to Lauren Goodger at the start of the episode that she felt unhappy with Arg
Lydia was seen throwing herself into work at her shop Bella Sorella in Loughton, Essex, before grabbing some lunch at Fratelli's restaurant in the high street.
Dressed in a pair of brown trousers, white shirt and knitted cardigan, Lydia looked as chic as ever as she stepped out, with her huge sunglasses the only sign that she might be concealing red eyes after watching the episode.
After the series premiere aired on ITV2, Lydia took to her Twitter page to reassure fans she was doing well after she was seen breaking down in floods of tears on the show.

She wrote: 'I'm so sad but relieved that everything is out in the open x thank you everyone for your support.'
Her boyfriend Arg, meanwhile, was seen taking on some physical activity with TOWIE friend Joey Essex and Joey's best friend James Bennewith as the trio roller skated their way around a park in their home county.
Arg went casual in a zipped sweatshirt and jeans for the outing while Joey went for his typical eccentric style in a red onesie.

Arg had also written on his Twitter page after the episode aired, explaining: 'Even more confused now guys but think positive thoughts and positive things will happen! Could of done with the other half of Marg there! X'
Last night's episode saw Lydia opening up about her troubles with Arg to Lauren Goodger, confessing: 'Me and James have obviously always had our problems and our issues. We always argue about the stupidest things.
'But every time I see him and my hearts crumbles and I love him so much. James never admits something is wrong, he'll always be in denial about it like everything is fine.'

Arg meanwhile unburdened himself to Lydia's mother Debbie.
He sobbed: 'I thought we'd move in together, and if that went well we'd get engaged and then be married in a few years.'
'I know how much you love my daughter, and as a mother that's always what you want. But if you love her that much you have to give her space.'

And Debbie replied: 'Lydia's been with you since she was seventeen, she was a child when she met you. I think she needs to find herself, but she can't do that without space.'
Lydia later told her mother: 'I do still love him. I don't want to talk about it. I don't want to hear about James, I feel so guilty, I don't want to hear that I'm making someone I love unhappy.'
