Tressed to impress: Models strut their stuff on the catwalk... with GREY hair during Madrid Fashion Week

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Platinum grey: Models sashay down the catwalk in Madrid, wearing a design from the autumn/winter season from Maria Barros

It could be seen as representing the age of austerity Europe is currently entering. Or it could be a homage to the older generations.
Either way, the models unveiling the latest Maria Barros designs made a dramatic impact when they took to the catwalk at Madrid Fashion Week - all of them sporting sleek grey hairstyles.
The silver-haired foxes were certainly tressed to impress as they sashayed down the runway in Barros's autumn/winter collection in the Spanish city.

Impact: Maria Barros unveiled her autumn/winter 2012-2013 collection with stunning designs and silver hair

Old and new: The grey look could be a homage to older generations... or a nod to austerity

The grey wigs and clean make-up appear to represent a new creative stage of Barros as she revealed her 2012/2013 collection.
Using materials such as wool and silk in neutral colours, shades of white, black or grey gave way to greens and burgundy - with some featuring a splash of gold.
Barros said: 'Through this collection i tell a story, my story, my world.'
She is not the first designer to use grey-haired models. In 2010 Calvin Klein unveiled his collection with silver-haired models - praised and criticised in equal measure for attempting to break the 'last taboo' of women's fashion.
